The value in the Game Golf system comes from the analysis of all the information you collect and this is done through an online account on the Game Golf website. I did not try a 'fuel light bingo' test to the battery life of the Game Golf unit, but it should do a couple of rounds at least.

The DTD can store up to 10 rounds and uses the supplied mini-USB cable to connect to a PC to upload the scores to the internet and also for recharging. It even works through a layer of clothing, so if you have a jacket or sweater on then you don't have to keep on lifting it to tap the device. You get a little vibration and beep sound to tell you the shot has been recorded. To record a shot, all you have to do is tap the tag of the club you are using against the DTD before each shot and it records your position on the course. The waistline is the best place for the DTD and I found that on the outside of your leading hip was the best place as it was not on the swing path and was therefore less likely to get knocked off.
It is around 6cm square and 3 cm deep and is light at around 57grams so you hardly notice it is there. These communicate with the Game Golf Digital Tracking Device (DTD) that clips on to your belt. Maybe controlling your temper is another benefit of Game Golf? They are light and very robust as I found out when I inadvertently banged one during a high velocity club return into the bag and it survived. There are 18 tags, so plenty for all your clubs and a few spares if you lose one or rotate different clubs in and out of your bag.įitting the tags is very easy and does not damage the grips as they screw into the hole in the end that is already there. Game Golf uses GPS to track all the shots you take on the course by using sensor tags that are screwed into the butt on each of your club grips. The GPS maps are really easy to move shots if you tapped the club in the wrong spot or if you need to delete or add shots.Until now golf GPS devices have been able to tell you where you should go on a course, but now with Game Golf they can also tell you where you have been and how you got there. It seamlessly downloads each round and allows you to work through it before you sign the card. When you get home and plug it in, the round automatically pops up on your “Dashboard”. It doesn’t know where the hole is, so it just records your last putt, and then moves on to the next hole when you tap it with another club on the tee-box. It measures all the distances you hit your clubs, except your putter. It takes an extra second to tap the club to the sensing unit. Tapping the clubs on the unit is virtually invisible to your playing partners, even with the quiet beep and vibrate to confirm it caught the tap. There has been virtually no downside of using it. I’ve got 9 rounds in so far with GAME GOLF and I really enjoy using it. The graphs and charts will also allow you to compare your stats to friends and pros. It will analyze your distances, accuracy and recovery skills. Then you sign your card and it is posted live for all to see. It takes another 5 to 10 minutes to go through each hole and confirm or change the shots recorded by GAME GOLF. I’d tap it twice, I’d forget to tap it before a 2-inch putt, I’d tap it at the cart instead of at my ball, or I’d hit a ball in the water and need to add the penalty shot. I’m not sure I had any GAME GOLF errors, most were mine. Once you’ve downloaded your round(s) you need to sign off on the score card to make sure everything was tracked properly.
